AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Civil/Water Resources Design Engineer Intern for employment in the Germantown, MD office. This position will support ongoing water resources and site civil engineering projects across the DC-Metro/Mid-Atlantic region. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives Assist in the development and application of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analyses related to a variety of water resource engineering design projects Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member Currently in pursuit of Bachelors in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in water resources OR other related degree Effective written and oral communication skills Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic engineering concepts through coursework or work experience Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven environment Due to nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required A GPA of 3.0 or higher Familiarity/capability with using AutoCAD Familiarity with using ArcGIS Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS) A university student with no more than one academic year remaining before earning a degree preferred, these students are typically seniors in university. Contingent upon a positive performance review, a successful intern may receive an offer of full-time employment.
