Job Summary This position is centered around a specific sales channel with regard to building a process and relationship to ensure inventory levels are maintained to required levels heavily based on rail shipments with truck back up. Direct and coordinate the safe movement of railroad traffic to specific distribution centers from a central location. Primary Activities and Responsibilities * Review inventory levels to determine appropriate shipment schedules taking transit times into account * Act as point of contact for internal and customer communication regarding distribution center inventories and shipment schedules * Ensure compliance with all railroad rules, procedures, and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) * Direct and coordinate on local railroad traffic, monitor all railcar movements and maintain computerized records of all activities * Monitor and maintain familiarity with scheduled railcar switching, destinations, times of arrivals and departures * Communicate with personnel on weather or any environmental conditions affecting railcar movement * Coordinate movement of railcars according to operating plan and customer needs * Plan in advance for smooth and effective movement of railcars to ensure unnecessary delays Minimum Qualifications * High School Diploma/GED * 18 years of age or older * Computer literate * 2+ years experience with freight movement in general with regard to truckload, LTL and Rail Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree * Experience with specialized computer dispatching equipment * Experience with rail tracking, railcar regulatory requirements, rail pricing and TMS systems * Inventory and demand management experience preferred Basic Competencies * Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications-both general and technical) * Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions) * Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills) * Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple tasks Employment Conditions * Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime and various shift work * Federal regulations require random testing for drugs and/or alcohol * Must pass a background screening * Work sitting for long periods of time * Work tracking train and track movement on multiple mediums in fast-pace environment * Requires frequent revision in work assignments What Oldcastle Offers You * A culture that values opportunity for growth, development, and internal promotion * Highly competitive base pay * Comprehensive medical, dental and disability benefits programs * Group retirement savings program * Health and wellness programs About Oldcastle Oldcastle has a long and proud heritage as one of North America's largest corporations.
